Becoming A Grandparent

On August 17, 2017 at 5:58 a.m. our beautiful granddaughter came into this world. She weighed six pounds and was the most perfect sight I had seen since my own children were born.

Our first granddaughter was soon a household name receiving cards and gifts from family and friends she hadn’t even met! Like a summer breeze she brought whispers of a legacy to our family. This sweet bundle didn’t know it, but she transformed us on the day of her birth. A new era of adventure had started, a new phase of our adult life had begun. We were officially grandparents!!!

Her arrival started a trend. In each consecutive year, thus far, a newborn has graced our family. In May, 2018, our grandson entered the scene. He was a whopping 9 lb 5 ounce bundle, who was supposed to be a girl! At 36 weeks pregnant his parents got the shocking news that…she was a he! Oh BOY!!!

This little cherub has a personality all his own. He brightens our day with his handsome smile and silly temperament. His eyes sparkle and he is truly a little piece of sunshine. This little boy has dubbed us “Ma & Pa” and we couldn’t be happier answering our grandson by our pioneer nicknames!

Our third grandchild came into this world in May of 2019. She is the most happiest little baby. Say her name and her face lights up as though you gave her the world on a silver platter. She doesn’t understand, however, that she lights up our world with just her smile.

This little girl is her father’s clone! Every time I see her I feel like I’ve gone back in time, a crystal ball that has somehow taken me to a place that I shared with her dad. Reliving those precious years, through our precious granddaughter.

In only four and a half weeks our newest addition is on her way! May, 2020 will be full of joy! Another tiny person to love, cherish and watch grow into the individual she is destined to be. As their grandparents we have the greatest view possible; watching our grandchildren flourish, while watching our children create wonderful, caring, joyful, brave, kind, healthy, curious, and above all else, loving adults.

Looking toward the future,
