So many tears have been shed over the violence that plagues our nation. So many lives taken. So many vigils. So many children slaughtered by maniacs. So many families broken. So many people offering thoughts and prayers. So, so many…yet the violence continues.
What is the answer? Some people advocate for stricter gun laws, while others defend the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Politicians grand stand about fixing the problem, but really never do anything of consequence. These elected officials just keep repeating their mantra, and nothing gets accomplished.
Mental illness is definitely at the heart of the obscenity that afflicts our nation, but how can the average citizen stop a possible deranged individual from committing devious acts of violence? If you see or hear something, say something to authorities? Perhaps, but then we might be flooding our police with too many false alarms. Still this action is better than no action at all. If we read something on social media don’t we have an obligation to alert authorities?
How about bringing back capital punishment? If seems to work in China, Iran and India, just to name a few. Here in the USA, Amnesty International declares that the death penalty breaches human rights and these rights entitle everyone the right to life as well as being able to live free from torture or cruelty, etc. These rights have been adopted by the United Nations in 1948. Perhaps our United Nations needs to take a look at these animals who torture little, school children and end their lives prematurely before putting the lid on capital punishment for all. I’m sorry to admit that I believe in capital punishment for evil crimes. A person who can harm our most innocent, intentionally, should be put down like a rabid animal!
Possibly there is no perfect answer to solving the crime of mass murders that engulfs our nation. Perhaps there is not an all or nothing solution, but action has to be taken nonetheless. Not everyone is going to be satisfied with the outcome, but we all can’t be right. This nation must begin to take action to stop these heinous crimes. People, children are being slaughtered!!! It is imperative, we must stop the carnage!
Obviously we all know that guns themselves are not the culprit, it takes an individual to use a weapon. We also know that all mentally ill people are not to be locked away. So again, what is the answer? I believe the answer is both, and then some. We need stricter gun control, perhaps eliminating certain magazines; we need more help for those with serious mental instability; perhaps our Department of Justice could operate more effectively by prosecuting evil members of our society to the full extent of the law, without making deals that put these vile individuals back into society; and we need our Congress to unite on what is best for the citizens of this great country, without worrying about their next election campaign. There is plenty to be done, action without hesitation to end this reign of terror!
If those elected to run this free land of ours come up with possible solutions, don’t listen as a Democrat or Republican, listen as an individual who is sick and tired of offering people your thoughts and prayers.
We Are Better Than This,
