Did you ever want to push the hands of the clock forward or reverse, regarding your age? I know I have. As a young child I couldn’t wait to become a teenager. Upon acquiring that plateau, I became focused on graduating high school, then college and moving into my twenties where I actually finally felt like an adult.
As adults we start to focus on “important” phases of our lives. Career building, forming relationships, for some marriage, children, home ownership, etc. Before we know it, time passes and we have traveled twenty years forward. At this juncture, we are still focused and going along, perhaps missing some of our good ole days, but pursuing our endeavors.
Birthdays and holidays seem to come around faster now and some of us might be trying to relive our pasts, while others embrace the journey of the future. Some may be quite satisfied, others are still trying to catch their dreams, while the clock keeps ticking. Unlike teenage years when the world was our oyster, we start to realize that time is a commodity of which we are not in control.
Time….does any one truly have enough? We seem to be constantly wanting more. More good times, more time to attend to projects, more time to spend with loved ones. We should be trying to live in each moment of our lives; however, menial tasks, worries, ambitions and other parts of life keep getting in the way!
As grandfather time continues to move us along, we must remember to enjoy the life we are given, breathe the fresh air, enjoy the beauty of this enormous country, and embrace whichever peer group you happen to be. Be proud of your age and wear it as if it was a badge of honor. Young, middle-aged, senior citizen, which ever part of the continuum you happen to be, welcome it!! Perhaps we can not go back in time, or even slow it down, but we can look forward to enjoying each new morning and every new tomorrow!!
Loving my age,
mamadelvec
