Although you may want to bury your head under your bed covers lately, perhaps you can focus on all you have to be thankful for. During this month this country shares a very special holiday, Thanksgiving. A national holiday spent celebrating the Pilgrim’s harvest meal of 1621. This special day is usually spent with family and friends, carving a turkey and consuming other delectable sustenance. However, this particular year may look and feel quite a bit different.
We are being told by local government officials to curb our observance. No large gatherings to share our traditional celebration. We already know this pandemic has wreaked uneasiness, concern and death on the world this entire year. By now, many of us are either disgusted or filled with fear and dismay. I, however, have made a decision to focus my energy on being thankful for all the positivity around me!
I am very thankful for a loving and caring husband. A man I can certainly depend upon in all times. He never waivers from his beliefs and his character is impeccable.
I cherish each moment I spend with my children and their spouses. As a mom, I have been truly blessed. My son and daughter are remarkable individuals, each having traits that are unique. They are loving spouses, as well as smart and caring parents.
As a grandmother, I am grateful for my four grandchildren. These tiny humans bring such joy to our family, each having individual characteristics to love. They change quickly and will learn so much more than I’ll ever know. Just thinking about their futures brings sunshine to my life.
I am forever thankful for my extended family and my steadfast friends. My Rhode Island family will always have my love and admiration because without each of them, I am not me. Each of them has left their mark on my heart. As for my friends, I am continually amazed by your love and support. You have chosen me to be part of your lives, and I do not take that for granted. Friendship is a gift we are so fortunate to enjoy.
Obviously this Thanksgiving will be like no other. Trying to deal with all the negativity in the world not to mention this horrible Covid-19 virus, we must rise above it all and stay positive! Just look for the people in your life that bring you happiness and I’m sure you can stay optimistic. Consequently, if there truly is no one that brings you genuine delight, look at the sky, ocean, mountains, grass, plants, trees, stars, moon, animals, and all this world has to offer; there you will find contentment.
Ultimately we have the power to be our own happiness. On Thursday, November 26, 2020, I will definitely be choosing to be grateful, thankful and feeling amazingly blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving, 2020,
