I usually keep politics out of this blog, but I’m sorry I no longer can sit quiet. The politics of our great nation is really coming undone. I realize we have had many catastrophes in our history, although our young nation has never been this divided about every single issue as we are these days.

Between Covid-19, the election of 2020, the end of the horrific war on terror, and let’s not forget the border crisis, we as Americans are putting blinders on.

Some of my friends are arguing with one another about the vaccine. People are picking on each other for their personal choices. Whether individuals get vaccinated for Covid-19 should be an individuals choice, just like woman who choose to have abortions or keep the fetus. Is it not their right to choose?

The election of 2020, what a chaotic mess. Since I was able to vote, I never remember an election as screwy as 2020. Ballots just kept on coming in and there was never an end to when counters stop counting. The 20 year war on terror ended in a horrific, chaotic manner. We definitely needed to get out of Afghanistan; however, shouldn’t the most powerful nation on earth be able to handle this in a fashion of strength and wisdom? How could our nation pull out of a war in such a debacle? Aren’t we better than this? After 20 years of fighting this war on terror, we left this country in worse shape than when we entered this horrible war. The Taliban will gain power again and in years to come, attack our homeland once again. These people hate the west (America) and will come back even stronger than 2001.

Our country should be ashamed. How could we let this happen? So many of our fellow Americans gave their lives for this escapade and this is the way this country repays our veterans! Our President, Congress and so many other Cabinet members, I hope you are sincerely pleased with this disaster. These United States should be much more equipped and knowledgeable exiting a war of 20 years!

The border, America’s border in Texas is a “hot mess”. How long can this go on? More and more illegal immigrants have been entering this country each and every day. Since March illegal immigrants have been flocking into this country because our borders are just open. Shouldn’t America have borders to protect itself and its citizens? Lots of our leaders go on and on about this country being a country based on immigrants, and I for one am proud of my Italian immigrant background; however, my grandparents came to this country legally. They had the right documentation and came to these United States to work hard and became citizens. It makes me laugh that our administration sits behind protected fences, walls, blockades, and secret service, but continues to keep our country wide open with little to no protection! Our poor border patrol agents have zero chance of keeping our country secure, not with this kind of hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, many American citizens are fighting about vaccines, getting fired from their jobs, and yet we don’t understand that the Covid-19 pandemic is never going away if we continue letting all these illegal immigrants into our country, without the proper documentation and vaccination. Perhaps, unbeknownst to these illegals, they are producing more and more positive cases, but our government continues to send them into different parts of our nation, why? Covid-19 is a virus that like other virus’ will not be eradicated with a vaccine; however, it perhaps can be slowed down.

My question is simple, WHY? We have a national crisis of magnificent proportion, but we are doing nothing to secure our country. Such a frustrating, horrific, time in our nation’s history. Who is responsible for the way this nation is conducting itself?

Is it, We The People, or our government leaders, that we elected to act on our behalf? We elected these officials, perhaps we should think long and hard when we have another chance to change a few things. Should these officials have lifetime appointments in Congress? I think not, but how can we get that changed; when those legislators make the rules! CRAZY!

Perhaps this is what makes America the best country to occupy. We have these unalienable rights; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, yet lots of American citizens feel unheard and, therefore, continue to fight for their piece of the American dream. Wasn’t the government formed to protect its citizens and their rights? Stop the hypocrisy and get down to the problems we face as a nation. We should be standing together, as one nation under God.
